Design Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing new features for a renowned dishwasher brand. This role involves the design and development of components and systems within the entire dishwasher framework. Utilizing principles of fluid mechanics and heat transfer, the engineer will enhance performance, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. Approximately 50% of the role is dedicated to hands-on design work, while the remaining 50% focuses on testing to ensure the feasibility and functionality of new features. Responsibilities Design and develop new features for dishwasher systems. Utilize fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles to improve product performance and efficiency. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct testing to validate the feasibility and functionality of designs. Collaborate with a team of designers and engineers on product lines and projects. Essential Skills Proficiency in SolidWorks. Expertise in mechanical design and engineering. Experience with sheet metal and new product development. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, thermodynamics, FEA, and CFD. Hands-on testing experience with fixtures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. 3+ years of experience in appliance design, preferably dishwashers or laundry equipment. 3+ years of experience in SolidWorks design and new product development. 3+ years of experience with hydraulic systems and thermodynamic systems. Work Environment The role requires working onsite within a department comprising 50 team members, including designers and engineers. This department supports all product lines and is involved in both new product development (NPD) and sustaining design projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fitchburg, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
