Job Title:
Manufacturing Engineer II Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer II supports and optimizes manufacturing operations by improving processes, tooling, and equipment to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. This role provides day-to-day technical support to production, leads and participates in continuous improvement projects, and supports the introduction of new products into manufacturing. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective production while driving sustained process improvements. Responsibilities Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow maps for manufacturing operations. Design and optimize tools, fixtures, weld fixtures, and equipment used in production to improve safety, quality, and throughput. Provide day-to-day engineering support for production lines, including troubleshooting equipment issues and resolving process deviations. Evaluate nonconformances and support disposition, rework strategies, and long-term corrective actions. Partner with Quality to conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address recurring issues. Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to reduce cycle time and improve throughput. Coordinate trials, tests, and validation activities for new or modified processes, materials, and equipment. Collaborate cross-functionally on cost reduction initiatives while maintaining or improving product quality and delivery performance. Support new product introduction by defining manufacturing process requirements and ensuring processes are robust and scalable. Create and refine work instructions and process documentation to support successful production ramp-up for new or updated products. Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Participate in risk assessments, including PFMEA, control plans, and ergonomics reviews to identify and mitigate process risks. Support the design and optimization of processes related to heat exchangers, welding, and brazing as applicable. Communicate technical findings, data analyses, and recommendations clearly to production, engineering, and leadership stakeholders. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role. Proven experience improving manufacturing processes and solving complex technical problems in a production environment. Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools. Experience applying Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Ability to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow maps. Ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and use data-driven decision-making to improve processes. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and supporting production ramp-up for new or updated products. Hands-on experience with fixtures, weld fixtures, and tooling design for manufacturing. Familiarity with welding and brazing processes in a production environment. Experience with heat exchanger manufacturing or similar complex assemblies. Knowledge of PFMEA and control plan development for risk assessment and process control. Exposure to Kaizen, Six Sigma, or other structured continuous improvement methodologies. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including design engineering, applications engineering, quality, and operations. Work Environment This role operates primarily on-site in a manufacturing facility, working closely with the production team and a small on-site manufacturing engineering group. The broader engineering organization, including design and applications engineers, works in a hybrid model and collaborates frequently across locations. The position involves regular interaction with production lines, tools, fixtures, and equipment, as well as participation in trials, tests, and validation activities on the shop floor. The work environment emphasizes safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on cross-functional teamwork and technical problem-solving. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
