Full Job Description Title:
Senior Stamping Engineer Location:
Glendale, WI The Senior Stamping Engineer role will bring innovative and timely solutions for process standardization & control, cost improvement, asset reliability, scrap reduction, new process equipment & methods and advanced technology. This role will be a technical leader in our organization by assisting in creating strategy, identifying opportunities, establishing collaborative environments, aligning with key stakeholders, prioritizing & planning activity, measuring results and communicating & rewarding the successes. It will require working closely across multiple teams to provide cost effective solutions that are designed for manufacturing at a world class level. This role may have supervisory responsibilities for salary associates which would include interviewing, training, creating challenging objectives, planning/prioritizing work, appraising performance, providing constructive feedback, development planning, succession planning, and working with human resources to address all disciplinary/associate issues as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead continuous improvement activities and lean tool deployment for KPI improvement of scrap, labor, TPM, EHS performance and variation reduction. Design, specify, develop costing and create proposals for new stamping technology. Assist with the development of standardized systems and structure to ensure world class performance which includes detailed process instructions, operating specifications, appropriate process checks, error proofing, automated process control systems and preventive maintenance plans. Review, improve and standardize preventative maintenance programs for stamping tooling and equipment by leveraging best practices, and should be based on the cycles a tool has operated. Provide training material and guidance for the stampings area and its associated secondary processes. Ensure consistency in how stampings processes are engineered, documented and sustained. Drive process & equipment readiness delivering capable and error-proofed stamped products. Provide expert product design recommendations and feedback for new and existing components suitable for manufacturing consistently at world class performance levels. Support and deploy tooling organizational strategy that allows company to meet or exceed objectives of tooling in 8 weeks or less, with standardized designs & fabrication processes, at the best cost & quality. Leverage lean concepts and industry benchmarks such as visual factory, standard work, error proofing, single piece flow, six sigma, kaizen, TPM and Industry 4.0 to simplify the organization and eliminate decisions in the design, manufacture, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting processes. Education & Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree from an engineering discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience with stamping tooling and/or stamping processing/engineering.
  • Strong stamping background with emphasis on tooling design/manufacturing, processing of stamping tooling, cost estimation & preventative maintenance.
  • Efficiently collect, analyze and present data in a clear & concise format, interpret data analysis and provide insightful recommended solutions.
  • Execute timely change thru the implementation of lean concepts and process improvements, small & large, on-plan and within budget.
  • Ability to influence thru communication skill, data analysis & insightful presentation.
The ability to manage projects and work in a team project environment is required. Understanding of lean concepts and how to apply them to a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of quality control and part print references (GD&T). Experience with simulation and
CREO/PRO-E
software is a plus.
Competencies:
This role will require the ability apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Some of these principles will include the ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) and to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear, to sit, and stand, walk and use hands to type, touch and/or feel. The employee may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
While the majority of time will be within an office environment, this role will require being near moving manufacturing equipment which requires hearing, vision, and/or foot protection. Limited travel (less than 10%), including international, may be required.
