Job Description
Position Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and supporting production processes within a stainless-steel fabrication environment specializing in nuclear gloveboxes (NQA-1 compliant) and pharmaceutical process equipment . This role ensures manufacturing excellence through process efficiency, quality compliance, and continuous improvement while supporting the company's mission to deliver fully integrated, end-to-end solutions across Powder Handling, Particle Size Reduction, Filling Solutions, Containment Solutions, and Continuous Processing Technologies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process Engineering & Optimization Develop, implement, and improve fabrication processes for stainless steel components and assemblies (welding, forming, machining, finishing). Optimize production workflows to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput. Design and validate manufacturing methods for complex assemblies such as containment systems and gloveboxes. Support new product introduction (NPI) from design through production. Nuclear & Regulatory Compliance (NQA-1) Ensure all manufacturing processes meet NQA-1 quality assurance requirements for nuclear applications. Develop and maintain process documentation including travelers, routers, and inspection plans. Support audits, documentation traceability, and corrective actions. Work closely with Quality to ensure adherence to ASME, ASTM, and customer-specific nuclear standards. Pharmaceutical & Hygienic Design Support fabrication of equipment meeting GMP and hygienic design requirements . Ensure proper material selection, surface finishes (e.g., Ra requirements), and cleanability standards. Collaborate with engineering and validation teams on pharmaceutical system requirements. Tooling, Equipment & Layout Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and jigs to improve consistency and productivity. Evaluate and recommend capital equipment investments (automation, welding systems, CNC equipment). Assist in plant layout improvements for optimized material flow and safety. Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) Lead Lean initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and waste reduction. Analyze production data and KPIs to identify improvement opportunities. Reduce rework, scrap, and cycle times while improving quality. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams. Provide technical support to shop floor personnel and troubleshoot production issues. Interface with customers and vendors when required for technical clarification or issue resolution. Documentation & Standards Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs, and manufacturing standards. Ensure proper revision control and compliance with internal and external requirements. Support ERP/MRP systems with accurate routings, BOMs, and labor standards.Requirements:
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 3-7+ years of experience in stainless steel fabrication or custom equipment manufacturing . Experience with nuclear (NQA-1) and/or pharmaceutical (GMP) environments strongly preferred.Technical Skills Strong knowledge of:
Stainless steel fabrication processes (TIG welding, polishing, passivation) ASME codes and standards GD&T and blueprint reading Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) is a plus. Certifications (Preferred) Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) Welding or fabrication-related certifications NQA-1 or nuclear quality training Core Competencies Problem-solving and analytical thinking Strong attention to detail and quality Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Effective communication across all levels of the organizationJob Type:
