The SMT Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of surface mount technology equipment, including pick-and-place machines, solder paste printers, SPI and reflow ovens. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the production of high-quality printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) that meet customer specifications, IPC standards, and on-time delivery requirements. Duties Set up, program, and operate SMT equipment, including stencil printers (Pemtron) pick-and-place machines (Panasonic), and reflow ovens (Heller). Load component reels, feeders, and trays; verify part numbers, polarity, and orientation against the bill of materials (BOM) and machine program. Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks to verify solder paste deposition, component placement accuracy, and reflow profiles. Conduct visual inspection of assembled boards using magnification and identify defects per
IPC-A-610
standards. Document production data on production logs/Traveler Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe work area in compliance with company and IPC standards. Experience 2+ years of hands-on experience operating SMT equipment in an electronics manufacturing environment. Proven experience working with PCB assembly, surface mount technology (SMT), or related manufacturing environments. Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and work instructions. Working knowledge of
IPC-A-610
(Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and
IPC J-STD-001
(Soldering Requirements). Familiarity with ESD handling procedures and moisture-sensitive device (MSD) controls per
J-STD-033.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Bi-Lingual (English/Vietnamese) a plus
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
