Performs evaluation, preventative and corrective maintenance, including immediate repairs on a variety of equipment utilized in the production process. As part of the Production team, they will work with management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test engineers on multiple product lines supporting both commercial and government products. Maintains equipment, to include: cleaning, lubrication, minor repairs and adjustments, programming and determining appropriate action for mechanical, electrical pneumatic and hydraulic equipment failures Operates and troubleshoots SMT equipment (MyData and ASM) which includes the printer, adhesive station, chip shooter, pick & place, reflow oven, X-Ray, wash, AOI unit, paste height and measurement, etc. Conducts minimal programming for SMT equipment utilized in the production process Assists the Manufacturing Engineering Technician III in establishing the preventative maintenance priority on manufacturing equipment Maintains departmental records on equipment maintenance, repairs, training, and calibration Assists with maintaining the machine parts and tooling inventory Assists with preparing manufacturing work instructions related to product changes or new products, processes or methods specifying sequence of operations and standard work for manufacturing processes Provides input with manufacturing and production readiness reviews Assists with compilation and analysis of cell board product yield and supports engineering continuous improvement efforts Accurately enters data associated with the SMT process. Monitors and improves SMT line process activities Interfaces with engineering to incorporate changes and cost savings Reads and interprets electronic assembly drawings, layouts, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Standard Operating Details (SODs), and ISO Procedures Provides on-the-job training to others working in the SMT area Supports production delivery requirements, by developing and reviewing visual control charts, and assisting continuous improvement efforts Identifies root cause, and systematically solves issues on equipment and end product, aiding engineers, other technicians, and operators Ensures that equipment complies with departmental and company standards
Requirements:
Associates degree or vocational certificate in a technical program or the equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum five years of experience IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001
certifications, or ability to obtain within 60 days Knowledge of the use of mechanical hand tools and soldering equipment Ability to interpret layouts Understanding of material and component types, styles, symbols and color codes Highly skilled in problem solving techniques and methods (process, product, procedure); experience with continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing preferred Working knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical operations/systems May require handling or exposure to chemicals used in the production area Continuous standing during daily support initiatives; Occasional lifting and moving of material and fixtures over 25 pounds and up to 60 pounds; Infrequent movement of equipment with casters in excess of 100 pounds Knowledge of tolerances of 25 mils center to center Strong computer skills (Proficient with Microsoft Office) Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to obtain a US Government granted security clearance, if necessary Successfully complete and demonstrate the ability to perform the requirements of the following programs: All Manufacturing Training Programs Handling First Piece Certification Component Identification Right-To-Know Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Sypris Electronics, LLC provides goods and services to the U.S. Government and other prime contractors and is obligated by its contracts with those entities, as well as by various federal laws and regulations regarding security and export control, to restrict access to certain goods, services, and/or any related information.
