Hour Positions:
3 (2•AM Shift / 1•Overnight Shift) Our rapidly growing company is looking for the next member of our team!
Who we are:
Quari Ice, a product of Elevation Global Industries was founded in 2016. We are a fast-growing Social Enterprise in a business incubator in the Fulton Market corridor, operating throughout Chicagoland, Wisconsin and Indiana. We provide ultra pure, slow melt, crystal clear ice products sold in retail stores, food service establishments, and catering/private event companies.
What we offer:
A culture where every team member gets a chance, has a voice to make a difference, and receives options to be an owner! We offer PTO, Paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, and more.
Who we need:
We are seeking a highly disciplined, detail-oriented individual who views ice not just as a product, but as a "crop" that requires constant vigilance. You are someone who thrives in a methodical environment where following a process to the letter is the difference between a perfect harvest and equipment failure.
Our ideal teammate:
The "Master Grower"
Mindset:
You treat every Ice Block Machine (IBM) as a high-value ecosystem, monitoring growth patterns with the same care as a botanical cultivator.
Unwavering Precision:
You understand that "close enough" isn't good enough—whether it's filling a tank to the exact height or perfectly aligning a liner to ensure a uniform block.
Safety Sentinel:
You prioritize the health of your team and our machinery, recognizing that shortcuts in a cold, wet environment lead to "catastrophic damage".
Technical Integrity:
You are comfortable with mechanical systems, from operating lifting hoists to performing quarterly system shutdowns and defrost cycles. What you'll do: As the guardian of our IBMs, you will join the Operations Team and report to the Executive Vice President of Operations . Your core mission is the flawless execution of the
Ice Cultivation SOP:
Cultivation & Tank Prep:
Sanitize tanks and expertly install liners to create perfectly rectangular, 300lb+ blocks. You will manage water levels and install sterilized equipment to ensure high-quality ice growth.
Growth Monitoring:
Conduct shift-start inspections to identify signs of poor quality growth or water leaks. You will replace equipment as needed and record all irregularities on the Ice Growth Monitoring Sheet to maintain our "Ultra-Pure" standards.
Precision Harvesting:
Safely operate lifting hoists and hydraulic transport carts to move blocks to the freezer or the Samurai Cutting Team. You must possess the mechanical intuition to recognize when a block is "stuck" to prevent damage to sensitive refrigeration components.
Harvest Oversight & Coverage:
You are responsible for the entire harvest lifecycle. This includes scheduling harvest windows—which often fall on nights and weekends—and providing mandatory backup coverage to execute the harvest if a scheduled team member is unavailable.
Systems Maintenance:
Actively prevent ice buildup by using thermal intervention within the IBMs. You will lead the quarterly shutdown and defrost cycles of our lines to ensure long-term machine health and efficiency.
Logistics & Staging:
Act as the heartbeat of the facility by ensuring the Samurai Cutting Team never waits for a "crop," staging blocks on the conveyor table in a seamless, just-in-time fashion. Your skills & background:
Environmental Awareness:
Ability to work 7 days a week in cold-weather environments while wearing full protective gear (steel-toe boots, specialized thermal gloves, eye protection).
Technical Discipline:
Must follow strict SOPs to grow perfect ice, prevent "catastrophic damage" to refrigeration lines and ensure workplace safety.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to handle heavy equipment and move large-scale ice blocks safely.
Documentation:
High attention to detail for reporting, logging harvest quantities, timestamps, and more to meet and maintain SQF Food Safety Code. Experience in the following areas is a plus! Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)
Food Service ServSafe Certificate Pay:
$17.00 per hour
Benefits:
Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Shift availability: Overnight Shift (Preferred) Day Shift (Preferred)
Work Location:
In person
