Engineering Technician
POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing operations through process development, documentation, training, equipment support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, repeatable, and properly documented. The Engineering Technician develops and maintains manufacturing methods, supports new product introduction, assists with equipment implementation, and helps drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and throughput.
POSITION DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting process, equipment, and production issues. Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput improvement. Lead and participate in kaizen events and other process improvement activities. Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, visual aids, and best practices. Create and maintain manufacturing methods, routings, bills of material, and part number structures within the ERP system. Work closely with Production Supervisors to train new and existing employees in manufacturing processes, equipment, and standard work. Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by partnering with R&D Engineering to develop manufacturing methods, tooling, work instructions, and production readiness plans. Assist with process validation and implementation of new manufacturing techniques and technologies. Support installation, qualification, and implementation of new manufacturing equipment and tooling. Assist with preventative maintenance programs and equipment reliability initiatives. Analyze manufacturing data and production trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Support root cause investigations and corrective action efforts related to quality, safety, and production issues. Participate in cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing performance and product quality. Assist in fixture, tooling, and workstation design to improve ergonomics, productivity, and consistency. Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control records. Support manufacturing engineering projects and strategic operational initiatives as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in engineering technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience 2-5 years of manufacturing, engineering technician, maintenance, or process improvement experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation. Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing documentation. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
