Experienced Event Installer / Scenic Production Technician Mr 9 Event Design Peabody, MA Job Details Part-time $26.28 - $38.65 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Fabrication Computer operation Box truck Computer literacy Driver's License Computer skills File organization Woodworking Full Job Description Experienced Event Installer / Scenic Production Technician The Prop Factory is looking for an experienced hands-on event installer / scenic production technician to help with custom event décor, props, signage, scenic pieces, staging elements, illuminated centerpieces, branded displays, and basic event lighting. This is not a basic event-staff position. We need someone with real field experience who can use tools safely, load properly, install cleanly, stay calm on-site, follow digital instructions, and help solve problems under tight event deadlines.
Schedule / Availability
This role requires strong availability and a serious commitment to the business. Event work is deadline-driven and schedules can include early mornings, evenings, weekends, long days, short-notice changes, installs, strikes, and busy seasonal periods. We are not looking for someone who is juggling five other jobs and only available once in a while. We need someone who can make this role a primary work commitment and be available when event schedules require it. The right person should be responsive, flexible, dependable, and willing to plan their schedule around confirmed event work. More hours and responsibility are available for someone who proves they can be trusted. Responsibilities Prep, load, unload, install, dismantle, and return event materials Install props, signs, backdrops, scenic pieces, staging elements, displays, décor, illuminated centerpieces, and lighting elements Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, fasteners, hardware, adhesives, and basic shop equipment Read basic layouts, measurements, photos, drawings, PDFs, and install notes Use basic computer tools for job notes, photos, files, email, schedules, shared folders, and communication Assist with safe rigging, hanging, securing, and positioning of event pieces when needed Help set, aim, power, test, and troubleshoot basic lighting elements Work safely around finished venues, clients, planners, AV crews, florists, caterers, and other vendors Keep trucks, shop areas, and event sites clean and organized Assist with event strike and proper repacking after events Qualifications Experience in event installation, scenic fabrication, sign installation, carpentry, AV/staging, lighting, exhibits, theater sets, trade shows, or similar hands-on work Familiarity with hand tools and power tools is required Basic computer skills are required, including email, file organization, photos, PDFs, shared folders, and reading digital job notes Comfortable using tools and working physically Able to lift, carry, climb ladders, and work on your feet Reliable, professional, and able to work under deadline pressure Valid driver's license preferred Van or box truck driving experience is a plus Lighting experience is a plus, including uplighting, LED fixtures, battery lights, wireless DMX, pin spots, cable management, charging, testing, aiming, and troubleshooting Pay $28-$40/hour depending on experience, reliability, tool ability, computer ability, driving ability, lighting experience, and whether you can lead installs. Shop work is primarily in the Wakefield / Peabody, MA area. Event installs are mostly around Greater Boston and New England.
