Job Description
Tension Corporation is seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Electrical Technician to support and improve our manufacturing operations. This hands-on role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex electrical and control systems on high-speed envelope folding and production equipment.
The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with PLCs and automation systems, and a proactive approach to equipment reliability and continuous improvement. This position also supports system upgrades and manufacturing improvements across multiple plant locations, with occasional travel required.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and control system issues on manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
Maintain, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs and electrical control systems, primarily Allen-Bradley platforms.
Support upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement initiatives for manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, hydraulic prints, and mechanical drawings.
Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to resolve equipment issues and improve performance.
Support electrical systems across multiple plant locations, including occasional travel as needed.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, UL508A, and Lockout/Tagout safety standards.
Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities accurately.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment working with electromechanical systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills with industrial electrical systems and automated equipment.
Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modifications (Allen-Bradley preferred).
Proficiency using electrical test equipment including voltmeters, ammeters, and ohm meters.
Experience with:
3-phase industrial wiring
AC/DC control systems
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Servo drives and motors
Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings.
Working knowledge of:
NEC
UL508A
NFPA 79
OSHA regulations
Lockout/Tagout procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
Experience supporting high-speed manufacturing or converting equipment.
Experience with continuous improvement or equipment modernization projects.
