Manufacturing Technician I
Job Title:
Manufacturing Technician IJob DescriptionJoin a dynamic production team focused on consumables, kit, or reagent manufacturing. This role is essential in fulfilling production schedules in a fast-paced, high throughput industrial setting. Responsibilities may include producing coated plates, chemical buffers, biological diluents/reagents, and assembled kits for customer order fulfillment. A degree of professional latitude, creativity, and self-management is expected.

Responsibilities
  • Operate automated equipment for producing biological assays and/or reagents.
  • Contribute to process improvement, assay, and process development for manufacturing.
  • Complete necessary documentation to support process and production procedures, including data capture, forms, logbooks, and inventory batch records.
  • Perform daily maintenance and documentation of all production equipment.
  • Participate in general laboratory maintenance, ensuring cleanliness, and maintaining supplies and equipment.
  • Process, aliquot, vial, and label materials to maintain physical inventory.
  • Prepare, maintain, and report raw material, reagent, and/or coated plate inventories, including participation in year-end physical inventory.
  • Follow laboratory safety precautions and utilize personal protective equipment.
  • Manufacture custom and/or prototype requests for customers as needed.
  • Occasionally handle BSL2 reagents, with specific duties varying based on departmental requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in production, manufacturing, and pipetting.
  • Familiarity with assays, reagents, buffers, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices and aseptic techniques.
  • Background in biology is beneficial.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High School diploma required. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations coordination and inventory control is required.
  • Prior manufacturing experience is a plus.
Work EnvironmentThis role is set in a lab-based manufacturing environment. Shifts include opening shifts at 5am and 7am, with lunch at 10am and 11am, and a closing shift at 8am with lunch at 12pm. Shift schedules are uploaded weekly, and requests are accommodated if made in advance. Initial training schedules, typically starting at 7am or 8am, will be disclosed during orientation.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.63/hr.
