Working with general guidance, this role performs a mix of standard and specialized laboratory tasks within a controlled testing environment to assist ongoing development and validation efforts. Key Duties and Responsibilities Executes tests on raw materials, work-in-progress items, and completed products, documenting observations, findings, and technical outcomes Prepares, configures, and operates testing instruments and specialized equipment in accordance with documentation and safety requirements Accurately captures experimental data, validates results, performs complex calculations, and produces detailed technical documentation with analysis and recommendations Completes assigned technical work with a high degree of independence and accountability Conducts qualitative evaluations to confirm process integrity and contributes to data collection for research and development activities Collaborates in creating, refining, and validating new laboratory methods and testing standards for both recurring and unique testing needs Partners with leadership to interpret testing specifications for components and finished products Assists in evaluating equipment needs, including recommendations for in-house fabrication or external procurement Performs advanced equipment upkeep and safety inspections to ensure laboratory assets remain operational and compliant Develops detailed projections for material usage, labor hours, and associated costs Prepares chemical mixtures as required to support test protocols Performs scheduled and on-demand testing to meet regulatory and compliance obligations Analyzes physical and structural characteristics of materials and products such as durability, flow, breakdown, and permeability Designs, builds, installs, verifies, and qualifies custom laboratory fixtures or equipment, coordinating resources such as production tools and model shop support Constructs advanced prototypes by interpreting engineering drawings, sourcing required materials, and completing assemblies to specification Qualifications and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent is required Up to five years of experience in a high-paced, customer-centric technical environment Hands-on aptitude with mechanical, electrical, or technical systems Proficient with Microsoft Office applications Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently and within a team Strong written and verbal communication skills Proven experience with accurate data entry, validation, and documentation Ability to read, interpret, and apply detailed written testing procedures and evaluate outcomes independently Role includes physical activity such as prototype assembly, equipment modification, test preparation, and transportation of materials within the facility Occasional off-shift support for pilot production activities may be required Adaptable and inventive mindset suited to a dynamic research laboratory setting Advanced proficiency with laboratory instruments and test preparation techniques Strong analytical and engineering-oriented problem-solving skills Physical Demands Consistent use of assigned personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety footwear, gloves, aprons, arm protection, eye protection, and hearing protection as dictated by task requirements Repetitive movements requiring bending, crouching, reaching, twisting, and repositioning products during inspection, setup, and testing activities Regular lifting, pushing, and repositioning of products and test fixtures using both upper and lower body muscle groups Routine kneeling at floor level and ladder use up to approximately 8 feet for product assembly, installation, testing, and repair Frequent use of hand tools requiring grip strength and rotational motion to fasten or adjust components
