Full Job Description SUMMARY :
This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a loop slitting line to process stainless steel and specialty alloy coil material according to customer specifications. The Loop Slitting Line Operator ensures safe and efficient production while maintaining strict quality standards for slit width, edge condition, coil integrity, and packaging requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Sets up and operates loop slitting line equipment to slit master and remnant coils into customer-specified widths and quantities. Reviews customer orders, production schedules, coil specifications, and work instructions prior to operation. Verifies incoming material specifications including alloy, gauge, width, surface condition, and coil identification. Performs slitter head setup including knife, spacer, rubber stripper, and arbor configuration based on slitting patterns and tolerances. Monitors line operation to ensure proper strip tracking, tension control, edge quality, and coil rewinding. Inspects slit material throughout production using precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures. Maintains dimensional tolerances and quality standards according to customer requirements. Identifies and corrects issues such as camber, burrs, edge wave, scratches, telescoping, or coil damage. Operates support equipment including forklifts, cranes, coil cars, banders, and packaging equipment. Completes material movement transactions, inventory adjustments, and production reporting within NetSuite or other ERP systems. Labels, packages, and prepares finished material for shipment according to customer specifications. Performs routine machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and safety inspections. Maintains safe work practices and follows all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Assists with inventory counts and warehouse organization as required. Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related slitting, metal processing, or manufacturing experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills required : o Basic Outlook (e-mail) o Mobile ADP App for Time and Attendance and PTO requests o NetSuite Data Entry or Bar Code Scanning o Basic machine interface and production software operation Other skills required: o Knowledge of slitting line setup and operation. o Ability to read and interpret work orders and production specifications. o Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers and micrometers. o Knowledge of coil processing, strip tension, and metal handling techniques. o Forklift and overhead crane operation experience preferred. o Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. o Excellent attention to detail and quality control awareness. o Basic mathematical and dimensional calculation skills. o Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
