Job Description

Manufacturing Labor Classification:
Nonexempt Reports to: Shift Supervisor Job Overview Safely and efficiently operate a variety of production equipment including fork trucks, pallet jacks, maintenance tools, power presses, power washers, mixers, pumps, tanks, web forming equipment, process instrumentation, computers and coating and saturation equipment, QC processes and testing equipment, and packing equipment. Responsible for producing, monitoring, testing, and packaging products as instructed by the Work Instruction Procedures and supervisor. Must have the ability to work at varying heights; frequently climbing ladders, stairs and catwalks; must work at heights of up to 20 feet to access batch tanks, silos, pipes, valves, pumps, and lighting; work in confined spaces to access equipment is also required. This position will require dexterity and the ability to lift, carry, and stack 50lb packages. The schedule is primarily 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM 5 days a week, but flexibility to infrequent weekend, overtime, and off shift scheduling is required. Ability to prioritize and multitask in an effective way is required. Ability to thrive in a fast paced technical work environment with fast changing priorities will be the key to success. Essential Job Duties 1. Knowledge of, understanding of, and execution of safe work practices and procedures while performing job duties. 2. Support safety programs and goals. 3. Ensure that work areas are clean and maintained at all times so that security of production workers is maintained. 4. Maintain work areas to meet the cleanliness and sanitation standards of the company and FDA processes. 5. Ensure that production equipment and tools are functional at all times and evaluate production processes to ensure they are working optimally. 6. Use fork truck and organization skills to maintain an uninterrupted supply of raw materials to the production lines. 7. Start up, operate, and shut down production machinery and ensure proper cleaning and securing. 8. Ensure that production work is performed by following standard Work Instruction Protocols adhering to FDA and ISO guidelines. 9. Measure ingredients accurately per prescribed formulations so that optimal levels of production and cost are met. 10. Prepare and assemble production products according per Work Instruction Procedures. 11. Ensure that end products conform to quality, quantity, as well as FDA and ISO standards. 12. Notify quality assurance personnel in case any defects or problems are found during the production. 13. Label and properly store finished products and ensure that all pertinent information is recorded in the Production. 14. Works well with others and in team environments. Key Performance Metrics 1. High School Graduate; 2 yr Technical Degree in the Science and/or Engineering areas is a plus. 2. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the plant operations and corporate team. 3. Strong math and problem solving skills. 4. Intermediate computer skills. Reasoning Ability 1. Must have ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed as well as imprecise written and oral instructions. 2. Must have the ability to successfully manage problems involving multiple physical variables.
