Baxter, TN Position Summary:
The Glaze Line Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment on the glaze line to ensure tiles are properly coated, decorated, and finished according to quality and production standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining continuous production flow, product quality, and workplace safety within the tile manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor glaze line machinery to ensure proper application of glazes, inks, and finishes on tiles. Prepare and load glaze materials, colors, and decorations according to production specifications. Inspect tiles during production for quality issues such as color consistency, glaze coverage, and surface defects. Make necessary adjustments to equipment settings to maintain quality and efficiency. Ensure glaze tanks, screens, and nozzles are clean and free from blockages to prevent production downtime. Follow production schedules and communicate any issues or delays to supervisors immediately. Perform basic equipment maintenance and assist maintenance personnel with repairs when needed. Maintain accurate production and quality control records. Follow all plant safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with setup and changeovers between different tile products and glaze recipes. Collaborate with quality control, maintenance, and production teams to meet daily production goals.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred; experience in tile or ceramics production is a plus. Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret production orders, work instructions, and safety guidelines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for long periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed. Willingness to work overtime or rotating shifts as production requires. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. safely. Work in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
