Press Tooling and Annealing Process Technologist Carlex Glass Manufacturing Nashville, TN Job Details $30 - $32 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Quality control corrective actions Operational cost reduction Press operation Mechanical assembly Engineering process optimization Routine inspections Mid-level High school diploma or GED Continuous improvement Pneumatic systems Electrical maintenance Wiring harnesses Root cause analysis Training Manufacturing company experience Process engineering Full Job Description Step into a Day on the Line You start your shift by opening the latest digital logs, then head straight to the offline press station. Mechanical linkages, electrical harnesses, pneumatic circuits—you inspect each with a practiced eye and schedule any upkeep with maintenance and engineering so nothing is left to chance. Before the next production run, you move through complete tooling sets offline. You confirm each tool's mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic readiness, plan preventive work for anything that's drifting, and set up the tooling to the engineered setpoints so the line launches cleanly. As production ramps, you're side-by-side with Engineering, refining setups to squeeze out more uptime and better quality. If a press, shuttle, or annealing section stumbles, you dive into root cause analysis, capture measurements, log adjustments, and validate fixes. You make targeted process tweaks to lift yields, cut scrap, shorten cycle times, and trim overall costs. Along the way, you coach operations teammates on the manufacturing process and keep an eye on defects as work progresses. What You'll Do Inspect offline press station mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components; coordinate maintenance schedules with maintenance and engineering. Audit full tooling sets between runs and manage their preventive maintenance to ensure full operability. Set up tooling for upcoming runs to defined engineering setpoints; collaborate with Engineering to optimize setups for uptime and quality. Lead and participate in root cause analysis across the press station, shuttle, and annealing section. Capture and maintain digital records of tooling and press station measurements and adjustments. Perform basic electrical and pneumatic tasks and intermediate mechanical work on the press station and tooling. Support process improvement initiatives with Engineering; monitor live processes and adjust to improve yields, reduce waste, lower cycle times, and decrease operating costs. Investigate defect causes; train operations personnel on manufacturing processes and oversee work defects. Maintain regular, on-time attendance; work overtime when required; collaborate effectively in team meetings. Stand on concrete for 12-hour shifts and perform other duties as assigned.
