Additive Manufacturing Technician 1 ITL Solutions Hampton, VA Job Details Full-time $20 - $25 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Flexible spending account Tuition reimbursement Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Flexible schedule Life insurance Qualifications Computer operation High school diploma or GED Manufacturing facility Attention to detail Organizational skills Full Job Description The Additive Manufacturing Technician 1 is an entry level position responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of additive manufacturing (3D printing) equipment used to produce prototype and production components. The technician will support manufacturing and engineering teams by operating equipment, performing post processing tasks, conducting inspections, and maintaining production records. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a basic understanding of machine movements and controls who is interested in building a career in advanced manufacturing and additive technologies. Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position is not open to foreign nationals or non-US citizens. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Setup, operation, and monitoring of additive manufacturing equipment, including: Laser Directed Energy Deposition (Laser DED) systems Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printers Stereolithography (SLA) printers
  • Load materials and consumables, prepare build platforms, and assist with machine calibration and startup procedures.
  • Monitor machine operation and respond to basic machine alarms or notify engineering and supervisory personnel of issues requiring additional support.
  • Remove completed builds and perform post-processing operations.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of additive manufacturing equipment and associated work areas.
  • Conduct basic dimensional inspections using hand measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, build sheets, and standard operating procedures.
  • Accurately document machine settings, production information, material usage, and inspection results.
  • Support Manufacturing and Engineering in process development, equipment setup, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with other manufacturing operations, including assembly, packaging, material handling, and secondary machining or finishing operations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and fulfill quality requirements.
Qualifications Technical school coursework, vocational training, or an Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field is preferred but not required. Basic knowledge of machine movements, machine controls, and automated manufacturing equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate industrial equipment after training. Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and work instructions. Familiarity with hand tools and precision measuring equipment. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn machine interface software and manufacturing data systems. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Exposure to or experience with 3D printing technologies through school, hobbies, internships, or previous employment is preferred. Experience working in a machine shop, fabrication, or production environment is preferred. Strong problem solving and math skills. High school diploma or GED preferred. Properly handle and protect ITAR, EAR, and CUI documents per company policy Knowledge of CUI handling requirements
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
