Naval Structural Engineer

Job Description:

NSC Staffing is seeking experienced Marine Structural Engineers for an exciting shipyard project supporting vessel design, engineering analysis, construction, and modernization efforts. We are looking for candidates with strong experience in ship structural design, engineering calculations, regulatory compliance, and construction support within marine, shipyard, or industrial environments. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), vibration analysis, and shipboard structural systems is highly preferred. Essential Job Functions - Marine Structural Engineer As a Marine Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for: ⦁ Performing structural design analysis and engineering calculations for shipbuilding projects ⦁ Developing engineering drawings, diagrams, Bills of Material (BOMs), and technical documentation using CAD/CAM systems ⦁ Supporting ship structure design through all phases of design and construction ⦁ Preparing ship specifications, engineering estimates, purchase specifications, and test documentation ⦁ Reviewing vendor proposals and drawings for compliance with contract requirements and industry standards ⦁ Interpreting Classification Society rules, U.S. Navy specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements ⦁ Assisting with vibration surveys, noise surveys, machinery signature analysis, and shaft alignment studies ⦁ Supporting shipyard evolutions including sea trials, vessel launches, and undocking operations ⦁ Preparing engineering estimates and scope packages for change orders ⦁ Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and cross-functional teams ⦁ Communicating effectively with customers, vendors, and internal departments regarding design-related matters ⦁ Participating in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, schedule, and cost reduction Qualifications and Experience ⦁ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent required ⦁ Professional Engineer (P.E.) License preferred ⦁ Minimum 5+ years of experience in the marine, shipbuilding, or maritime industry ⦁ Minimum 3+ years of experience in structural engineering or related discipline ⦁ Experience with ship structural design, analysis, and construction support preferred ⦁ Familiarity with Classification Society rules and marine regulatory requirements ⦁ Experience with CAD/CAM systems and engineering software preferred ⦁ Strong verbal and written communication skills ⦁ Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership when required Why NSC Staffing?
