Overview Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and repairs of Kirby Inland Marine vessel fleet. Responsibilities Set up vessels for repairs or major dry-docking and oversee repairs. Monitor shipyard costs and negotiate prices deemed necessary. Input all costs on major jobs. Track job costs against budget and approval limits. Review priority reports and oversee repairs that are needed. Conduct quarterly maintenance audit of Kirby vessels and price out any needed repairs found for the next year's budget. Set up vendors or in-house mechanics to perform maintenance and/or repairs and track completion of repairs. Assist charter boats when requested. Complete work orders on needed repairs and assigned vendors. Assist on special projects as assigned. Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgement. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds; climb aboard and move around vessels; climb 90-degree vertical ladders. Ability to operate standard office equipment, personal computer, and company vehicles.
Education/ Experience:
High school diploma or
GED. 2-3
years field experience in the marine transportation industry.
Working Conditions:
On-call 7 days a week / 24 hours per day every four weeks to take care of any maintenance issues that may arise after hours or on weekends.
