COPY LINK link Metallurgist We are seeking a driven and technically skilled Metallurgist to support manufacturing, quality, and process improvement initiatives within a dynamic foundry environment. This role is responsible for advancing operational performance through metallurgy expertise, process optimization, defect reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. The Metallurgist will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Leadership teams to improve manufacturing capabilities, support customer requirements, and drive process innovation. This position also plays a key role in developing new materials and technologies that support future business growth and market expansion. Key Responsibilities Support production and quality operations to meet customer delivery, quality, and performance expectations Lead initiatives focused on scrap reduction, non-conformance reduction, yield improvement, and productivity enhancement Develop and optimize metallurgical processes and product development activities Drive continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction Conduct process development and improvement projects, including: Equipment evaluation and implementation Reduction of micro-porosity defects Alloy development and selection Process capability improvements Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making to improve manufacturing performance and forecast operational requirements Provide metallurgical guidance and technical support to Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Management teams Train and support operating personnel on metallurgical processes and best practices Manage laboratory technicians within Iron and Sand laboratories Oversee metallurgical supply inventory and coordinate procurement activities Forecast scrap material demand based on production schedules and collaborate with Purchasing teams Prepare and review material certifications to ensurepliance with customer specifications and industry standards Support special projects and strategic initiatives related to manufacturing and process development Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required PhD preferred Experience Minimum 4+ years of progressive experience in metallurgy, materials engineering, or foundry operations Demonstrated success working in cross-functional manufacturing or project team environments Iron foundry experience required Heat treatment experience required Machine shop or machining process experience preferred Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence
Compensation:
Salary $100,000-$115,000 plus bonus and full benefit package including 401K match.
Pay Details:
