Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Weld Engineer with strong CAD design expertise and Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification to support the design, development, and quality assurance of welded components and assemblies. This role bridges engineering design, hands-on welding and quality control to ensure structural integrity and manufacturability of products. Key Responsibilities Develop, review, and optimize welding procedures in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Create and modify detailed 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for welded structures and components. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure weld designs meet performance and cost requirements. Perform weld inspections and audits in accordance with Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) standards. Interpret engineering drawings, symbols, and welding specifications. Provide technical guidance on weldability, material selection, and fabrication processes. Troubleshoot welding issues, including defects, distortion, and process inefficiencies. Support and maintain Cobot and Production Robot Welders Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for weld-related issues. Maintain documentation for welding procedures, inspection reports, and quality records. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Active Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification. Proven experience in welding engineering and fabrication environments. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar). Strong understanding of welding processes. Knowledge of industry codes and standards. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols. Familiarity with robotic or automated welding systems. Key Skills Attention to detail and strong analytical skills Problem-solving and troubleshooting Cross-functional collaboration Strong communication (written and verbal) Quality assurance and inspection expertise Work Environment Combination of office (design/CAD work) and shop floor (inspection and support) Shop floor consists of a noisy, concrete-floored facility with no climate control May require occasional travel to vendors or job sites
