Chief Metallurgist

Origin Mining Company is seeking an experienced Chief Metallurgist to lead the metallurgical activities at the Mineral Park Mine. The Chief Metallurgist will be a key player in optimizing the processing of copper and molybdenum resources, ensuring the highest standards of efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

Metallurgical Process Optimization:

Oversee and optimize the copper and molybdenum extraction processes to maximize resource recovery and maintain product quality.

Team Leadership:

Lead and mentor a team of metallurgists, engineers, and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Research and Development:

Stay abreast of industry advancements, implementing new technologies and techniques to enhance metallurgical processes.

Quality Control:

Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications.

Project Management:

Manage metallurgical projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution while meeting safety and environmental standards.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mining, geology, and engineering, to optimize overall operational efficiency.

Reporting:

Generate comprehensive reports on metallurgical processes, production efficiency, and contribute to strategic decision-making.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in metallurgical roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership position. Experience with copper or base metal mining. In-depth understanding of metallurgical processes, mineralogy, and mineral processing equipment. Proven ability to lead and motivate a technical team, fostering innovation and collaboration. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address metallurgical challenges and implement effective solutions.
