Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled Coating Associate to join our team and contribute to the development and optimization of electrode coating processes for advanced battery technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrode manufacturing, coating techniques, material characterization, and process improvement to enhance battery performance, yield, and efficiency. Duties Evaluate and develop and optimize slurry preparation, roll to roll coating, drying, and calendaring processes for battery electrodes (anode/cathode). Optimize coating parameters (thickness, uniformity, adhesion, porosity, etc.) to improve electrochemical performance and consistency. Perform rheological analysis of electrode slurries to optimize viscosity, solid content, and dispersion. Characterize coated electrodes using available analytical techniques. Assess adhesion strength, mechanical properties, and drying kinetics of electrode films Work with manufacturing teams to scale up electrode coating processes from lab to pilot and production scale. Improve coating process efficiency, yield, and material utilization while reducing defects (e.g., delamination, cracks, pinholes). Develop and implement in-line and off-line quality control measures for electrode coatings. Troubleshoot coating defects and propose corrective actions to improve production consistency. Conduct root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement strategies using Six Sigma or similar methodologies Collaborate with equipment vendors to integrate new technologies and improve automation Work cross-functionally with R&D, process engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless technology transfer. Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, process parameters, and results for technical reports and patents. Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies related to coatings. Perform other duties as assigned and needed
Requirements Education:
High School Graduated with very good in math, or AA degree in Science and engineer or a related field.Experience:
5+ years of experience in mixing, coating, machine opeartion and battery manufacturing, or related fields.Technical Skills:
Hands-on experience with electrode slurry preparation and coating techniques. Strong knowledge of basic math calculation Experience with coating equipmentSoft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
