Job Description

Hiring for a Materials Engineer in East Hartford! Job Description The Materials Process Engineering (MPE) organization is seeking a Materials Engineer with a strong background in high-temperature coatings to support ongoing development and production initiatives within the coatings group. This individual will play a critical role in advancing coating technologies for aerospace applications, focusing on durability and performance in extreme environments. Responsibilities Support the development and application of high-temperature coating systems, including Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBCs), Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs), Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs), and metallic coatings. Evaluate coating performance in high-temperature environments (2000°F+). Work hands-on with coating processes, including thermal spray and related technologies. Analyze failure modes related to oxidation, corrosion, and coating degradation. Partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and lab teams. Support testing, data analysis, and reporting for coating validation efforts. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 3-8+ years of relevant experience. Experience with high-temperature coatings in aerospace or similar industry. Hands-on experience with coating processes such as thermal spray and surface engineering. Strong understanding of materials behavior at elevated temperatures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Advanced degree preferred for R D focus. Experience in composite, materials engineering, new product development, polymer, thermal engineering, metallurgical, and chemical engineering. Proficiency in Excel. Laboratory experience. Experience using basic mechanical tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Hartford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
