Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer - Welding & Steel Fabrication to oversee quality assurance functions within a welding and steel fabrication environment. The ideal candidate will ensure fabricated components meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. This position requires strong expertise in welding quality systems, fabrication standards, inspection processes, and root-cause analysis within a production environment. Key Responsibilities Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain

      AWS D1.1 / D1.6
      • ASME
      • AISC standards
      • Maintain certifications and compliance documentation.
      • Lead internal and external audits and manage corrective actions. Welding & Fabrication Quality
      • Oversee welding procedure development, qualification, and documentation.
      • Ensure welder qualification and requalification compliance.
      • Review fabrication drawings, weld symbols, tolerances, and build requirements.
      • Validate material certifications, heat numbers, and traceability for incoming steel components. Inspection & Testing
      Manage:
      • Dimensional inspections
      • Weld inspections
      • NDE testing
      • Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
      • Lead root-cause analysis for weld defects and nonconforming materials.
      • Approve final products prior to shipment. Collaboration & Technical Support
      • Provide technical guidance to welders, fabricators, supervisors, and engineering teams.
      • Participate in pre-production planning to ensure quality requirements are addressed early.
      • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders regarding quality concerns and resolutions Required Qualifications
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in:
      • Quality Management
      • Welding Engineering
      • Steel Fabrication Quality
      • Strong knowledge of welding codes, especially
      AWS D1.1.
      • Experience with:
      • Cutting
      • Forming
      • Machining
      • Assembly processes
      • Ability to read and interpret:
      • Fabrication drawings
      • Weld symbols
      • GD&T
      • Experience performing or supervising NDE.
      • Strong problem-solving skills using:
      • 5 Why
      • Fishbone
      • DMAIC methodologies Preferred Qualifications
      • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS).
      • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems.
      • Experience with structural steel standards (AISC).
      • Background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
      • Spanish-speaking ability is an advantage. Key Competencies

      • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

      • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or legally authorized to work in the United States. Additional Information
      • This role does not include direct people management responsibilities.

      • Structured welding and fabrication experience is essential.
