SR. MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, PLASTICS
Indianapolis, IN Must-Haves (Top Requirements) 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering , preferably in plastics manufacturing Strong expertise in injection molding, extrusion, and related plastic processing technologies Experience with process optimization, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives Proficiency in CAD software for tooling and fixture design Working knowledge of quality standards and methodologies (ISO, ASTM, etc.) Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with design, quality, and production teams Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Plastics Engineering preferred About the Role We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Plastics to drive process excellence and support the production of high-quality plastic products. This role is critical in developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure consistent product quality. You will work closely with product design, tooling, quality, and operations teams to bring new products to life and continuously improve existing manufacturing systems. Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes including injection molding, extrusion, assembly, and packaging Lead process validation and verification activities to ensure product quality and consistency Partner with product design and engineering teams to improve design for manufacturability (DFM) Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste Collaborate with tooling teams to design and improve molds, dies, fixtures, and equipment Evaluate tooling and product designs for performance, cost-effectiveness, and maintainability Create work instructions and standard operating procedures for equipment and processes Support training efforts for production teams on new equipment and processes Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies for manufacturing equipment Establish and maintain quality control procedures to meet regulatory and internal standards Investigate defects and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets Identify risks and implement strategies to ensure consistent production performance What You Bring Strong understanding of plastics materials and manufacturing processes Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex production challenges Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive results Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools Work Environment Hands-on role in a manufacturing plant environment Regular exposure to moving machinery, equipment, and moderate noise levels Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles Requires standing, walking, and handling materials; lifting up to 35 lbs regularly (assistance required for heavier loads) This is an opportunity to take ownership of manufacturing processes, drive innovation in plastics production, and make a measurable impact on product quality, efficiency, and overall operational success.
