Job Description

Position Summary The Welding Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing welding operations, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and welding procedures while leading welders to produce high-quality products safely and efficiently. This role serves as the primary quality resource for welding operations, providing inspection, coaching, technical guidance, and documentation to ensure all fabricated components meet established requirements. Key Responsibilities Welding Quality & Inspection Perform visual welding inspections and grinding inspections on a variety of materials, fabricated components, and finished products. Verify that appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and procedures are utilized to meet engineering, customer, and quality requirements. Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and customer expectations. Identify, document, and communicate weld defects, non-conformances, and quality concerns. Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure compliance with customer requirements, approved welding procedures, and internal quality management system standards. Maintain records of customer approvals, qualified welding procedures, certifications, and approved processes. Document weld failures, corrective actions, and quality findings in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS). Support internal and external audits and assist with corrective action implementation when necessary. Technical Review & Documentation Review weld maps, engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and fabrication layouts to ensure proper weld placement and compliance. Read and interpret product specifications, welding symbols, and engineering documentation. Verify completed work meets dimensional, structural, and welding quality requirements prior to release. Leadership & Production Support Provide quality control and quality assurance oversight for products manufactured to established specifications. Oversee daily activities within the weld cell, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule. Direct, mentor, and coach welders on proper welding techniques, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve welding-related issues and improve manufacturing processes. Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and craftsmanship throughout welding operations. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of welding inspection, fabrication, or welding supervision experience. Strong knowledge of welding processes including MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, weld maps, and engineering drawings. Experience with quality management systems, welding procedures, and customer quality requirements. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Knowledge of AWS, ASME, or other applicable welding codes and standards preferred. Previous experience leading welders or fabrication teams preferred.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
