This is a rare, foundational opportunity for a Senior Foundry Engineer to serve as the first true casting expert on a small, elite team. Operating with absolute autonomy and direct access to the co-founders, this role will own the development of high-temperature casting capabilities, select critical capital equipment, and help architect a brand-new 60,000 square foot automated production facility from scratch.
Requirements:
Foundry Experience:
5 to 20 years of hands-on engineering experience specifically within an aerospace investment casting foundry .
Material Expertise:
Deep hands-on experience casting nickel superalloys (equiaxed, directionally solidified, or single-crystal) for flight-critical hardware.
Process Ownership:
Proven track record owning the end-to-end casting process, including melt practices (Vacuum Induction Melting/VIM), shell/mold interaction, pouring, and solidification control.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related program.
Logistics:
Must be willing to work 100% on-site at the facility in Billerica, MA. What You Will Do (Your Impact)
Establish Capabilities:
Develop and scale nickel superalloy investment casting processes from the ground up, driving process development toward AS9100 quality certification.
Commission Equipment:
Source, select, and commission critical foundry capital equipment, making key build-vs-buy decisions on vacuum induction melters and downstream inspection tooling.
Encode Expertise:
Collaborate directly with shell engineering, metallurgy, and software teams to turn traditional, artisanal casting knowledge into repeatable engineering code for an AI-driven operating system.
Eliminate Defects:
Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE) methods to perform rigorous root-cause analysis and eliminate casting defects. Scale the

Partner with the CEO and CTO to design a next-generation 60,000 sq ft production facility, defining the automated floor layout of the future.
