Materials Scientist -Surface Science & Coatings Optimal Inc. - 3.0 Warren, MI Job Details Contract 1 day ago Qualifications Research design Laboratory experiments Electron microscopy Master of Science Experimental design Research data analysis Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy Scanning electron microscope Full Job Description Surface Analysis Post Doctoral Researcher Duties and Responsibilities Design and execute experimental studies to investigate surface modification and coating processes Perform chemical and physical surface characterization to evaluate treatment induced changes Interpret experimental data to connect processing parameters with surface chemistry, morphology, and functional performance Elucidate structure property relationships and underlying mechanisms governing surface modification techniques Required Skills and Expertise MS in material science, chemistry or related field Experience with surface characterization techniques for chemical and physical property analysis : AFM, ellipsometry, indentation (nano, micro), SEM, FTIR, XPS, ToF SIMS, Raman Strong background in surface science of metals, coatings and composites Ability to design, plan, and execute experimental studies involving surface modification processes, as well as analyze complex datasets Preferred Skills and Expertise PhD in material science, chemistry or related field Experience with laser-based and/or plasma-based surface modification and thin film deposition techniques
