Job Description
The Welding Technology Program Manager leads company-wide welding technology initiatives and oversees the management of welding programs and certifications in compliance with applicable codes across multiple industry standards. They should combine deep technical expertise with practical, on-the-floor experience to drive continuous improvement in welding processes, productivity, standardization and training, while maintaining compliance.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct and manage the company's welding program and associated certifications while driving capability improvements. Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures (WPS, PQR) and welder qualification (WPQ) in accordance with NAVSEA Tech Pub 248, ASME Section IX andAWS D1.1
codes. Oversee and maintain compliance with multiple welding industry certifications and standards, including ASME U and R Stamps, AISC, and NAVSEA Tech Pub 278 qualifications. Lead and implement welding process improvement initiatives, including recommending and applying enhancements to welding methods, equipment, and training, to increase quality, consistency, efficiency, and overall operational performance. Lead training for new welders Support and mentor welders and technical teams in advanced welding techniques and best practices. Collaborate across departments to ensure weld-related procedures and documentation meet customer and regulatory requirements, including creating the welding and inspection portions of inspection and test plans. Provide technical guidance on weld design, materials, and processes for new and existing projects. Facilitate consistent implementation of welding standards and procedures across all company operations. Work in a self-directed and team-oriented environment to strengthen organizational capability and productivity. Assist in review and development of strategic approach and execution of complex weld applications for various industry sectors includingNAVSEA. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong background in arc welding across commercial, pressure vessel, and military applications. Demonstrated experience in managing welding programs and certifications. Proven record of driving weld process improvements and implementing technical solutions. Manufacturing shop floor experience required. Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of productsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference for candidates with a technical college degree in Welding Technology, Engineering, or a related field. AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials—current or previously held—highly preferred. Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration across teams. Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Excellent ability to interact directly with customer representatives on welding-related applications and best practices.Benefits:
