Acuren Inspection, Inc. has an opening for Engineer IV in Magnolia, Texas. Collect information from clients, prepare project scopes and plans, and deliver cost estimates. Conduct studies and generate observations and data as required by the project plan. Perform metallographic sample preparation, hardness tests, microscopic examinations, and any other tasks required to complete the failure analysis. Conduct metallurgical failure analysis for manufactured products, formed, welded, cast, and heat-treated components, pressure vessels, pipelines, tanks, tubing, valves, shafts, and other similar industrial equipment. Determine the root cause of the failure. Utilize laboratory assessment techniques including optical microscopy, metallographic examination, SEM/EDX analysis, fractography, and hardness testing. Mentor and support other engineers. Perform mechanical testing and use test results to evaluate material properties. Write Failure Analysis reports with discussion, conclusions, and recommendations. Provide optimal customer service by utilizing knowledge of quality systems. Develop client relationships and new business opportunities. Recommend materials for particular service environments and write procedures related to materials processing and testing. Support and encourage safety and quality assurance programs. Must possess at least a bachelors degree or its equivalent in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience as an Engineering Lead or in a related role leading engineering projects.
Must also possess the following:
at least 5 years of experience working directly with clients and other key technical and nontechnical stakeholders; at least 5 years of experience with equipment failures and safety; at least 5 years of experience with metal and plastic materials engineering; at least 5 years of experience writing technical reports/publications; and at least 5 years of experience with analytical testing equipment for polymers, including DSC, TGA, and FTIR.
