Mid-Level (Approximately 5-8 years preferred) Job Summary A Japanese company is seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer with strong 3D modeling and machine design experience to join our engineering team in Madison, AL. This role involves full participation throughout the project lifecycle, including concept development, detailed design, assembly, testing, installation, and final documentation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical assemblies, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, GD&T, and FMEA. Responsibilities Interpret customer specifications and develop mechanical designs that meet performance, quality, and safety requirements Create and modify 3D CAD models for machines, fixtures, tooling, and mechanical assemblies Select standard mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components Support component procurement and project coordination Perform and apply FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to designs and prototypes Generate accurate 2D manufacturing drawings with proper GD&T Prepare drawing packages and technical documentation for manufacturing and assembly Collaborate with engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams to improve designs and resolve technical issues Participate in assembly, testing, onsite installation, and final project support Qualifications 5-10 years of mechanical CAD design experience Proficiency with SolidWorks, ICAD, or similar 3D CAD software Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical assemblies Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems Understanding of GD&T and FMEA principles Strong problem-solving and communication skills Education Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred Equivalent hands-on experience and technical training will also be considered
