Mechanical DesignerJob Description This Mechanical Designer role focuses on delivering high‑quality mechanical building system designs for complex industrial and commercial facilities. You will produce detailed technical plans, specifications, drawings, and models that meet stringent project requirements and client expectations. The position emphasizes HVAC and related mechanical systems design, close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and hands-on field verification to ensure designs integrate seamlessly into construction and operations. Responsibilities + Produce comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models that align with project requirements and client expectations. + Lead the creation, refinement, and finalization of designs for industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, HVAC ducting, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, motor control, process chemicals, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems. + Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maintain precise environmental conditions, including specifying materials and components and implementing measures to control temperature, humidity, air filtration, and particle levels. + Apply established design techniques and exercise sound judgment to adapt and modify design concepts while ensuring compliance with company and team CAD standards for quality control. + Collaborate with mechanical engineers to perform load calculations, airflow balancing, and equipment sizing to maintain accurate temperature, humidity, and air quality control environments. + Work closely with design teams, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to address project objectives, resolve complex design features, and propose practical solutions to unique challenges. + Coordinate with other design disciplines, including electrical, structural, process/chemical, and architectural teams, to ensure complete and coherent design packages. + Conduct field verifications and site assessments to identify existing conditions, verify design assumptions, and incorporate findings into design packages. + Troubleshoot design issues during construction and integrate appropriate solutions into updated drawings and models. + Participate in design reviews and respond to requests for information (RFIs) with clear, professional communication to internal teams and clients. Essential Skills + GED or equivalent education. + Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design experience. + At least 1 year of experience working on industrial projects or similar environments such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, tool install projects, healthcare facilities, or oil and gas projects. + Proficiency in AutoCAD for mechanical and MEP design. + Experience designing HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust systems, process chemical systems, wastewater discharge systems, or similar mechanical building systems. + Familiarity with ASHRAE 62.1, the International Mechanical Code (IMC), NFPA 90A, and local building codes relevant to mechanical system design. + Strong communication skills to support effective collaboration with internal teams and clear interaction with clients during design reviews and RFIs. + Ability to follow and apply company and team CAD standards to ensure consistent quality control. + Capability to perform or support load calculations, airflow balancing, and equipment sizing in coordination with mechanical engineers. Additional Skills & Qualifications + A.A. degree or higher in engineering, architecture, or a related field. + Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO, or similar design and coordination tools. + 5 or more years of mechanical design experience, ideally including complex industrial or semiconductor projects. + 3 to 5 years of experience specifically as a Mechanical Designer. + Experience working on semiconductor facilities or tool install projects. + Demonstrated experience designing HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust systems, process chemical systems, wastewater discharge systems, and other mechanical building systems. + Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, including electrical, structural, process/chemical, and architectural disciplines. + Ability to adapt design concepts to unique project constraints while maintaining compliance with applicable codes and standards. Work Environment This role is fully on-site, working five days per week at a semiconductor facility. Typical start times range between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., with some flexibility based on project needs. The standard workweek is approximately 40 to 50 hours, and overtime eligibility is provided when additional hours are required. You will work within a team environment of around 50 on-site employees and report into a structured section organization. The setting involves close collaboration with engineering and construction teams, frequent interaction with advanced mechanical and semiconductor-related systems, and periodic field verifications within an active industrial facility.
