Raytheon's Air Launched Effectors Department is currently searching for Mechanical Engineers to work on multi-disciplined teams supporting the design and/or production support of Air Launched Effectors products and subsystems. These products support US Government and international customers. These positions support product lines based in Tucson, AZ, and may require domestic and international travel to suppliers, Raytheon facilities, and customer sites. This position will be an onsite role. What You Will Do Technical ownership and execution of tasks, and may be viewed as a prime technical contact in providing solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers. Communicate with cross-disciplined, engineering team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance with requirements. Serves in mentor role to junior engineers, providing technical guidance to others within mechanical discipline. Work autonomously with limited supervision, acting as the responsible engineer for major hardware subsystem. This often requires the ability to lead small teams of junior engineers, and collaborate across multiple functions and disciplines, such as supply chain, operations, quality, systems, analysis, and electrical. Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements. Collaborate with Raytheon factories and suppliers with new product integration and manufacturing process improvements. Perform and review tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended by design for the use-application. Improve new and existing designs using Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Producibility principles. Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment. Support production of various mechanical sub-systems at internal factories and suppliers. Support first hardware builds and first article inspections. Review manufacturing process instructions and support material review board dispositions. Perform root cause investigations on hardware of production related issues. Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field. Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software Qualifications We Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
