In the near term, our team is focused on rapidly moving from lab-scale prototypes to deployable pilot systems that can operate in real-world industrial environments. We believe solving climate change will require engineers who are excited to build real hardware, solve difficult physical problems, and iterate quickly. The Role We are looking for a highly practical Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys building and improving physical systems in a fast-moving startup environment. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who wants broad ownership, hands-on technical work, and exposure to the full product development lifecycle. You will spend most of your time designing, prototyping, testing, and refining mechanical systems, while also helping coordinate vendors, manage project execution, and keep engineering efforts moving forward. This is not a purely theoretical or simulation-heavy role. The right candidate enjoys moving quickly, solving real-world engineering problems, and working closely with hardware. What You'll Do Mechanical Design & Prototyping Create 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks Use a variety of Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, and other computer simulation tools to create and optimize design Design, prototype, test, and iterate custom hardware components for carbon capture systems Support the development of mechanical assemblies including piping systems, thermal management hardware, reactor structures, and lab-scale process equipment Troubleshoot prototype operational issues and implement practical design improvements Work closely with chemical and electrical engineers to integrate pumps, valves, sensors, heat exchangers, and related systems Support fabrication efforts with machine shops, off-the-shelf component vendors, and contract manufacturers Optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost Participate in hands-on assembly, testing, and lab work as needed Project & Vendor Coordination Help coordinate engineering timelines and track project milestones Maintain BOMs and engineering documentation Source components and work with vendors to obtain quotes and manage fabrication Communicate technical updates, risks, and blockers across internal teams Support the transition from lab scale systems toward pilot-scale hardware What Success Looks Like In this role, you will: Help turn experimental concepts into reliable physical systems Improve the speed and quality of engineering iteration Reduce execution bottlenecks across design, prototyping, and fabrication Take increasing ownership over hardware systems and engineering workflows as the company grows QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or hardware engineering Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software Experience creating engineering drawings and working with fabricated parts and assemblies Strong mechanical intuition and practical problem-solving ability Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous startup environment Strong communication and organizational skills Preferred Experience with prototype development and rapid iteration Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles Experience coordinating with machine shops or contract manufacturers Exposure to thermal systems, fluid systems, or industrial process equipment Familiarity with engineering project management tools such as Jira, Asana, or MS Project Exposure to FEA and/or CFD tools Why Join Jeevan? Work directly on technology designed to address climate change and the energy transition at the cutting edge and industrial scale Build real hardware systems, not just theoretical designs Gain broad exposure across engineering, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing Collaborate closely with experienced technical leadership in a highly hands-on environment Help shape the future direction of an early-stage climate technology company Opportunity for significant growth and ownership as the company scales Work Environment This is a hands-on role based primarily onsite in our Alhambra, CA lab and engineering facility. Candidates should be excited to work in-person directly with prototypes, equipment, fabrication vendors, and test systems. Benefits Competitive salary Equity participation Health benefits Paid time off Opportunity to grow rapidly within an early-stage startup Equal Opportunity Employer Jeevan is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at all levels of the organization.
