Job Title:
Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative Cell Engineering Design team. This team is dedicated to delivering qualified battery cell designs that meet operational performance targets with high reliability, all while supporting Form Energy's utility-scale multi-day energy storage system. Responsibilities Design molded plastic components for implementation in iron-air battery cells. Lead analysis, prototyping, and failure analysis efforts for plastic components. Fabricate first-of-a-kind plastic prototypes for mechanical fit checks and verification testing. Conduct validation testing to ensure designs meet critical requirements. Negotiate interface requirements with Battery Module and Electrode teams. Produce and release detailed 2D part and assembly drawings; define technical specifications, including dimensional, functional, performance, and manufacturing aspects. Essential Skills Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis to drive design decisions. Strong data analysis skills, particularly with mechanical test results. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 5+ years of industry experience. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. Expertise in plastic injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, or similar processes. Experience with plastic joining methods, such as laser or hot-plate welding. Work Environment This role is based in Berkeley, CA, and involves close collaboration with the manufacturing engineering team to define and support battery cell assembly processes and equipment design. The work environment is dynamic, focused on scaling our multi-day energy storage system to contribute to a sustainable future. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Berkeley, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
