Job Description We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our collaborative product development team and help design next-generation infrared camera systems. In this role, you'll work hands-on across the full product lifecycle—bringing innovative concepts to life and seeing your designs move from prototype to production. You'll partner closely with electrical, optical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to create highly sophisticated, real-world products used in impactful applications. What You'll Do Own and contribute to product development from concept through production: Create detailed 3D CAD designs using SolidWorks Define mechanical architecture, build flows, and fixturing concepts Conduct trade studies and design iterations to optimize performance Perform finite element analysis (structural & thermal) Complete tolerance analysis and support design validation Build and test rapid prototypes Collaborate cross-functionally Work closely with Electrical, Optical, Systems, and Manufacturing teams Interface with suppliers and production teams to ensure smooth builds Drive quality and continuous improvement Perform testing, failure analysis, and design refinements Support production with yield improvements and process efficiencies Deliver clear, high-quality documentation Create drawings with GD&T, BOMs, and configuration management records Develop technical documentation such as test plans, user guides, and specifications What You Bring BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant work experience Strong experience with SolidWorks (PDM experience a plus) Hands-on experience with hardware assembly and testing Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles Experience working with production teams and supporting builds Nice to Have Simulation experience (thermal, fluid, structural analysis) Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, or injection molding design Experience with optics or automated mechanical systems Familiarity with GD&T and 2D drawing standards What Sets You Apart Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills Proactive, high-energy approach to tackling challenges Additional Info Occasional travel (~5%) to customer sites or test ranges Why Join Us? Salary Range:
$113,600.00-$151,400.000 The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
