Mechanical Engineer II (Engineer II) Irvine, CA Long Term Contract
JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineer will carry out engineering assignments concerned with the planning, design, and testing of mechanical equipment, systems, and processes. Works cooperatively with other departments. Supports higher-level engineers on medium-complexity projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs mechanical equipment, systems, and processes. Performs calculations and analyses to ensure the design's suitability. Solves problems related to the assembly, repair, and test of environmental control systems. Under general supervision, performs assignments that involve responsibility for a secondary project or a part of a major project. Experience in the defense or aerospace industry is desired. Experience in developing thermal systems is a strong plus. Experience with electrical circuits and control theory is a plus. May give directions and/or guidance to junior-level engineers, designers, and drafters. Works with colleagues in the department and in other departments. Writes reports as required. Presents designs to peers, other engineers, and customers. Works under supervision, performs assignments of medium complexity, and may assist senior engineers with more complex assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (B.S.M.E) from a four-year College or University. Two to five years of experience with design, analysis, and development of industrial equipment. Knowledge of applied thermodynamics and mechanical design. Knowledge of drawing and drafting standards a plus. Capable of carrying out assignments concerned with mechanical equipment. An understanding of military, environmental, and test specifications is desired. Hands-on test and hardware experience are required. Requires strong oral/written communication skills and must be capable of conducting effective oral presentations to customers. Must be a US Citizen.
