Job Title:
Environmental Test Engineer Job Description As an Environmental Test Engineer, you will be accountable for all aspects of Environmental Test service center operations, including personnel, infrastructure, and budget management. You will provide technical direction, leadership, and mentorship to a team of engineers and specialists while ensuring the technical accuracy and quality of their work. This role involves leading the creation of environmental test plans, procedures, and reports to satisfy both internal and external test requirements. Responsibilities Oversee and participate in environmental tests, both onsite and offsite. Lead and contribute to root cause and corrective action investigations, implementing corrective actions to prevent future failures. Interface with regulatory agencies to support range approval of flights, including test plans, test reports, and waiver/corrective action support. Manage the development, improvement, and maintenance of automated test systems. Oversee procurement, maintenance, and operation of environmental test equipment, such as vibration tables and thermal chambers. Support the operation of existing environmental test instrumentation systems. Develop and maintain capability roadmaps for the Environmental Test service center and lead the realization of those capabilities. Essential Skills Environmental testing and test engineering experience. Knowledge of test and environmental standards such asDO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, SMC-S-16.
Experience in environmental acceptance and qualification testing. Experience developing test system software. Fundamental knowledge of environmental component level tests. Demonstrated technical leadership and people management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with customers and external stakeholders. Experience applying analytical and critical thinking skills to solve engineering problems. Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment. ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with automated testing. Experience reviewing electrical and mechanical schematics. Experience with the full life cycle of data acquisition from instrumentation selection to data processing. Experience with testing RF components such as RF transmitters, GPS systems, RF cabling, and RF antennas. Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft electrical systems. Knowledge of and experience performing EMC testing perMIL-STD-461.
Experience with NI cRIO, cDAQ platforms for data collection and test automation. Experience developing digital test procedures. Experience using SolidWorks or CAD software. Experience using electrical wiring software such as Capital. Work Environment This is a full-time role with a team size comprising 4 technicians (with plans to add 1 more) and 7 engineers (expanding by 2-4 more test engineers). The ETL Lead will manage and develop the entire test engineering and technician team. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $152000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
