We are looking for a Design & Validation Test Engineer to support electrical and environmental validation testing of automotive electronic control units (ECUs) and related hardware systems. This is a highly hands-on role focused on bench-level testing, data collection, debugging, and reporting in a lab environment. The ideal candidate will have foundational electrical engineering knowledge and experience working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and current measurement tools. Strong Excel skills and the ability to document and communicate test results are essential. This role is ideal for early-career engineers seeking to build strong experience in hardware validation, automotive electronics testing, and lab-based engineering work . Key Responsibilities Perform bench-level electrical testing and validation of ECU modules (e.g., seat controllers, door controllers, and related systems) Set up and operate laboratory test equipment including: Oscilloscope (waveform and signal analysis) Digital Multimeter (DMM) Power supplies Current clamps / probes Thermal chambers Measure and analyze voltage, current, and electrical waveforms Execute structured test procedures and validation plans Collect, organize, and analyze test data using Microsoft Excel Perform debugging and root cause analysis of electrical and functional issues Support validation of low-voltage systems (up to 24V) Document test results, observations, and failures for engineering review Collaborate with engineers to identify and resolve hardware issues Assist in basic scripting/automation of test processes (preferred) Ensure proper test setup, equipment calibration, and lab safety compliance Required Skills & Qualifications Education Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering , or related field Must-Have Skills Hands-on experience with: Oscilloscope (signal measurement, waveform analysis) Digital Multimeter (voltage, resistance, continuity testing) Experience in electrical testing, debugging, or validation Strong understanding of: Basic circuit theory Ohm s Law Low-voltage electrical systems Experience working with ECUs, embedded systems, or electronic modules Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data reporting and analysis) Preferred Skills Automotive ECU testing or Tier 1/OEM experience Familiarity with CAN tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, etc.) Exposure to: Power supplies Current measurement tools Thermal chamber testing Basic scripting knowledge (Python or similar) for test automation Experience in consumer electronics or industrial electronics testing Tools & Equipment Used Oscilloscope Digital Multimeter (DMM) Power Supplies Current Clamps / Probes ECU Test Benches Thermal Chambers CAN communication tools (optional) Soft Skills Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Clear communication of technical issues and findings Attention to detail in testing and documentation Ability to work in a structured lab/test environment Team collaboration with validation and engineering groups Role Expectations A successful candidate will be able to: Independently operate lab test equipment Execute ECU validation test procedures accurately Capture and analyze electrical signals (waveforms, voltage, current) Identify and troubleshoot hardware-level issues Document results clearly using Excel and reports Contribute to improving testing efficiency and reliabilityAbout Maxonic:
