Mechanical Construction (HVAC / Piping / Plumbing) Position Overview A leading mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful execution of HVAC, piping, and plumbing construction projects in the Irvine area. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a Mechanical Engineering degree and at least one year of experience supporting mechanical construction projects . The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to assist with project coordination, documentation, procurement, and schedule management throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Support Project Managers in the execution of mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and field teams to ensure project milestones are met Assist with procurement of equipment and materials for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems Track project schedules and help ensure deliverables are completed on time Maintain organized project files, logs, and reports Participate in project meetings and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders Support project closeout activities including punch lists, documentation, and turnover packages Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required) 1+ year of experience supporting mechanical construction projects Exposure to HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing systems within a construction environment Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced construction environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction management software is a plus Preferred Experience Internship or early career experience with a mechanical contractor or MEP contractor Exposure to large commercial or industrial mechanical systems Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project workflows Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary $80K-$95K Performance-based bonus potential Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Career advancement opportunities within a growing mechanical contractor
