Job Description

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Tooling Engineer 2 for a contract opportunity in Palmdale, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
(REQUIRED
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
): o 3+ years of Catia design experience (high proficiency in 3D modeling and detailing). o CATIA v5, GD&T, Tool Design. o Familiarity with Industry Standards related to Detailed Drawing Requirements, ANSI, ISO, etc. o Knowledgeable in designing of castings, stampings and turned components. o GD&T knowledge (it's understanding and usage) in order to properly apply the rules to drawings. o Efficient in writing, communication and ability to manage technical details. o Proficient with Microsoft office products - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Looking for an Engineer Tool 2 to support our Tool design department. As a member of the Tool design department, you'll get to support tool designs for manufacturing on F35 and Global Hawk. Responsibilities Designs industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.

): o Review and analyze specs, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed. o Develop and maintain 3D models and drawings of automotive powertrain components, sub-assemblies and modules, using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. o Support in the design of testing and prototype fixtures, if necessary. o Perform package studies given customer engineering requirements and engine environment details. o Follow internal procedures and standards including customer rules and drafting guidelines. o Create drawings/tolerance stack-up analysis/exploded views/models from supplied information such as sketches, marked prints, catalog references, layouts and other information supplied by Product Engineers. o Design components from a variety of different manufacturing processes; castings, forgings, stampings, powdered metal, machine turned components, molded plastics. o Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to drawings. o Generate drawings in accordance with industry design standards; ANSI, ISO, etc. o Maintain drawings and models within SmartTeam database. o Preparing for and participating in design reviews with the Engineering Team. o Participate in supplier and customer meetings to understand and implement needs from all sides still assuring functionality/feasibility/cost. o Coordinates and chairs necessary job/task clarification meetings with local team members as necessary. o Apply Design for Manufacturing principles to simplify manufacturing functions. o Keep track of lessons learned to share with other designers/engineering team. o Must complete assigned tasks within the established project timelines.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
o High school diploma/GED is required. o School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS
Full-Time 9/80 workweek. This position will serve on-site at Palmdale, CA Plant 42.
