What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an exceptionally skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to design the next generation of batteries, solar hardware,and energy management products for the home. You will specify,designand test the enclosures, busbars, harnesses, thermalmanagement components,and other hardware that make up our products. You will be part of a strongmechanical design team that is working on multiple products in parallel. Each of those product programs requires working as part of a multi-disciplinary team from concept to mass production. Roles are available at multiple senioritylevelsi.e.
Sr, Staff, etc. for those with more experience. What You'll Do
Modeling and design of mechanical systems and components including plastic, metal and sheet metal parts, conductors, insulators, wire-harnesses, fasteners, and other components
Mechanical design analysis including thermal, structural, design for assembly, and design for test
Solve electronics packaging issuesincluding:isolation, EMC, RF transmission, thermal management, interconnection,shockand vibration management, etc.
Utilize engineering principles to create test plans,identifyroot causes for field or testfailuresand implement fixes
Create drawing packages and instructions for proper manufacturing and assembly of designs
Assistin engineering prototype builds andcomponentfabrication
Collaborate with other mechanical, systems, electrical, digital control, manufacturing test, industrial design, and test engineers to meet design and program needs What You'll Bring
2+ years' experience designing high volume electronics products or appliances
Equivalent experience in high volume automotive hardware or lower volume power products (inverters, transformers,etc.) is also acceptable
Deep understanding of the material science of components used in mechanical design (metals, insulators, plastics, connectors, gaskets,conductorsetc.)
Experience using 3D mechanical design and analysis tools (CATIA,Ansysetc.)
Experience with DFMEA, DVP&Rs, failure analysis, statistical control methods
Knowledge of GD&T, finite elementanalysis and design for reliability concepts
Experience with designing products that receive international safety certifications Compensation and Benefits

Expected Compensation
$109,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
