SUMMARY:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for the technical design, engineering execution, and delivery of engineered material handling systems. This role focuses primarily on engineering design, technical problem solving, and project technical leadership.JOB DUTIES
Primary Responsibilities (90% Plus) Lead the mechanical design and engineering of material handling systems to meet customer technical specifications. Translate customer requirements into detailed engineered solutions, including layouts, calculations, and component selection. Develop accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support technical cost estimation. Perform engineering analysis, risk assessment, and design validation to ensure performance, safety, and reliability. Participate in technical customer meetings to clarify scope and ensure alignment on engineering deliverables. Support cross-functional collaboration (sales, purchasing, production) by providing clear technical direction and documentation. Review and approve detailed design packages prior to release. Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and installation as needed. Maintain accurate and organized engineering documentation. Apply sound engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges. Secondary Responsibilities (5% Plus) Provide structured technical mentoring and coaching to mechanical engineers. Review mechanical engineer designs when deemed necessary and provide constructive feedback. Support development of engineering best practices and technical standards in advisory capacity. Serve as a technical resource for complex or high-risk design challenges.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelors or equivalent work experience Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline 10+ years Engineering, Material Handling, Sales, Industrial DistributionPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
