Mechanical Engineering Internship, Prototyping

At 1X, you'll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit. Role Overview This role will support hardware development for June-August 2026 . You'll be part of the Prototyping team, responsible for development, assembly, and testing parts used in our humanoid robots. This is a hands-on, in-person role based in Palo Alto. For the right candidate, this internship may lead to a full-time offer. Mechanical-engineering focus 3D-print and assemble prototypes Create models in multiple materials Conduct durability testing Shared (mechanical engineering interns & electrical engineering interns) Collaborate with engineering and design teams to integrate new parts and resolve fit-and-function issues Contribute to the design and engineering of the next robot revision

• your work is production-critical, not a side project Create and edit CAD models for printing or milling Document print settings, results, and workflows Maintain print lab organization and inventory

REQUIREMENTS

Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Onshape, etc.) Comfortable doing physical work,, setup, assembly, post-processing Able to work on-site in Palo Alto Currently studying engineering or a related field.
