Job Description

Summary Working out of TAEC's San Jose Storage Design Center, the selected applicant will work as a member of an R D team, on Hard Disk Drive related projects. The work environment involves developing leading edge storage technologies and products. The ideal candidate for this position will have a very distinguished record in the HDD industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Sr. Principal Engineer is expected to play a pivotal role in the implementation and integration of areal density-related technologies. The candidate will work closely with an R D team in Japan and will to play a key role in integrating new Head/Media/RW technologies. The Sr. Principal Engineer is also expected to communicate and interact with Toshiba manufacturing related groups and Head/Media/Read Channel suppliers. The Candidate will play a key role in failure analysis, prototyping, evaluation and general process improvement as well as identifying technical risks and developing mitigation strategies/plans. Prototyping & Testing Build proof-of-concept systems: Collaborate with engineering teams to develop prototypes.
Test performance metrics:
Evaluate areal density, thermal stability, write/read reliability, and lifespan.
Iterate:
Use test results to refine the design and process. Cross Functional and supplier collaboration as needed.
Requirements:
15+ years of directly applicable experience. Excellent fundamentals in relevant HDD technologies. Deep experience in integrating new Head/Media/RW technology. Good understanding of the areal density related HDD manufacturing process Excellent communication skills. Comfortable working in a collaborative, co-located team environment.
Education:
Bachelor's in Engineering, M.S or PhD preferred.
Salary Range:
$184,400 - $265,000
