U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents only Position Summary Class A Surfacing is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of advanced aerospace and electromechanical products from concept through production. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and supplier coordination activities. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of mission-critical hardware, supporting both product development and test equipment design while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Design mechanical hardware, assemblies, and test equipment for aerospace and electromechanical applications. Support the development and analysis of electromechanical systems and motion control products. Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to define and refine product requirements. Develop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation. Design and support electrical and electronic enclosures, brackets, housings, and supporting hardware. Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve product quality, manufacturability, and cost. Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support fabrication, assembly, and production activities. Participate in prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation efforts. Support engineering reviews, design changes, and product lifecycle activities. Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain organizations to ensure successful product delivery. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Minimum 2 years of experience developing mechanical products from concept through production. Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or similar platforms. Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, manufacturing processes, and product development practices. Familiarity with electrical enclosures, packaging, and integration of electromechanical components. Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles. Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing electromechanical systems, actuators, or motion control hardware. Knowledge of gearbox design, power transmission systems, bearings, and precision mechanical components. Experience supporting aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, or industrial equipment programs. Familiarity with prototype development, testing, and product qualification activities. Experience working directly with suppliers, machine shops, and contract manufacturers. Additional Information Position is based in Torrance, California. Aerospace and defense experience is highly desirable. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Contract opportunity with potential for long-term engagement.
