Mechanical Engineer I Sakura Finetek USA, Inc. United States, California, Torrance 1750 214th Street (Show on map) Jun 17, 2026 Description General Position Summary
Performs a variety of system design work for medical devices primarily at the drafting and design stages in conjunction with the engineers.
Essential Job Functions
Engineering Activities
Design / draft / detailing product subsystems independently or with inputs from Engineers.
Process Engineering Change Orders and prepares supporting documentation for official release.
Works in a cross-functional team comprised of mechanical, electrical and software engineers.
Assists with proof-of-principle and concept prototype designs.
Assists in modifying BOM structures and calculates costs based on BOMs.
Details designs through applicable dimensioning, tolerancing, and stack analysis.
Conducts experimental test per Engineering input and participates in analysis discussions.
Model and draft designs exclusively in SolidWorks within a PDM system.
Occasionally assists in assembling and testing prototypes.
Assists engineers with root cause of failure analysis activities.
Information Management & Reporting Activities
Communicates with other department personnel regularly to provide important information on engineering activities.
Attends and participates in group meetings, task force groups, etc., as needed.
Plans, coordinates, and prepares reports, surveys, research information and any special requests made by senior management.
Other Activities
Assist in implementing methods and procedures for document control and security.
Essential Job Requirements
Education
AS degree in engineering sciences (2 years) or related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience & Minimum Qualifications
One (1) to two (2) years of experience in electromechanical system development.
Track record of design work on electro-mechanical systems.
Abilities to model / draft / detail in SolidWorks.
Demonstrate hands on experience with dimensional gauges, such as calipers and indicators.
Ability to use a Personal Computer and software for word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
Must have interpersonal skills. Ability to get along well with diverse personalities. Must be tactful, mature and flexible.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment
This position requires the employee to frequently sit. In addition, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read and analyze hard written copy and information on a computer screen.
Ability to successfully respond to multiple work pressures.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups.
Ability to communicate verbally in person and using a phone.
Ability to listen, understand, interpret, and solve problems.
Ability to travel to other locations both within and outside of the local region.
