Weapon System Engineering Department 430 develops in-house embedded systems and integrates government furnished equipment to support the Strategic Weapons and Payload Launch Control Systems of the Columbia Class and other submarine classes. Department 430 offers a flexible work arrangement that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on a few variables. Please ask for more details on how it applies to this opening during discussions with the department. Opportunities exist within the following department team:
WEAPONS SIMULATION & TEST
The Simulation and Test group has the following focuses: Requirements-based qualification testing for CLB tactical and strategic weapons systems as well as legacy strategic weapons electronic systems Developing and maintaining simulation and stimulation equipment to support system and component development as well as formal qualification of those systems and components Developing and maintaining custom test equipment used in construction grooming Developing and maintaining a new CLB tactical systems trainer Our simulators are developed to support requirements testing of both tactical and test equipment. A variety of languages are used including Simulink, LabVIEW, and Java to develop software which may be deployed on a range of hardware, from PLCs to embedded systems running Linux, Windows and real-time operating systems. The team also develops custom test equipment used for ship system qualification, and for the Strategic Weapons System Ashore (SWSA) facility monitoring and testing. Finally, the team focuses on requirements verification, which follows formal requirement-based test methods. Systems engineering best practices are employed to develop requirements and test procedures to support design certification of simulators and tactical systems.
Responsibilities may include:
Developing system and component level test procedures and scenarios that trace to system, hardware, and software requirements Developing and executing test procedures/scenarios to verify system and component level requirements Developing and maintaining requirements for simulators Developing software for custom simulators Participating in environmental testing Finding and troubleshooting bugs in the system Developing custom simulators, which model the behavior of ship systems and provide real-time input/output interfaces Developing and maintaining custom test equipment used in construction grooming Verifying requirements of components for both US and UK Submarines Preparing test reports to document as-run test results Developing system simulation to provide system-specific input/output responses Project management to include technical, budget, and schedule management
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Preferred:
Testing or troubleshooting experience Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or System Engineering Understanding and experience with applying the principles of System Engineering Experience with vendor management Experience with programmable logic controllers Experience with MODBUS or digital sensors Experience with environmentally qualifying components and military standards Experience with Navy systems, components and documentation Experience with IBM Rational Dynamic Object Orientation Requirements System (DOORS) Skills Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to present technical and programmatic content to internal and external stakeholders Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment, coordinating with other disciplines, while meeting schedule and budget constraints Self-motivated with the ability to think objectively and drive technical solutions to successful conclusion Join our talent pools, get job alerts, and see EB news We can recommend jobs specifically for you!
