Job Description

Tooling Design Engineer Location:
Fort Lauderdale, FL About the Role We are looking for a Tooling Design Engineer to design and support shop‑floor tooling that enables efficient, repeatable, high‑volume manufacturing. This role is well‑suited for an engineer who comes from a machining or manufacturing, understands how fixtures are actually used, and is comfortable owning designs from concept through production implementation. You'll work closely with manufacturing, quality, and external vendors to develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling that support both production and inspection needs. Key Responsibilities Design and develop production and inspection tooling, including jigs and fixtures, using SolidWorks Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models to support in‑house and vendor fabrication Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend tooling improvements to increase accuracy, repeatability, and throughput Partner with machinists, quality engineers, and production teams to support tool builds, revisions, and implementation Support tooling during production runs by troubleshooting issues and driving corrective actions Ensure tooling designs meet safety, ergonomic, and quality requirements Maintain tooling documentation, revision history, and configuration records Support inspection and quality requirements, including tooling used with CMMs and measurement equipment Required Qualifications Experience in machining, CNC manufacturing, tool & die, or similar hands‑on manufacturing environment Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (required) Experience designing tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing aids Working knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tolerancing Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (highly preferred) Strong understanding of GD&T Experience supporting tooling in a production manufacturing environment Experience working with external machine shops or tooling vendors Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
